Look, we’re not saying we’re a big deal... but we’re kind of a big deal

Miss Maker - the STEM nonprofit serving up weekly classes at Hatch and El Granada — and California Riding Club - the youth horseback riding nonprofit raising teamwork-loving, inclusive, horse-hugging dynamos — have officially teamed up to bring Maker Camp to the Coast!

Need proof?
✔️ Miss Maker serves Hatch and El Granada schools with weekly, hands-on STEM projects.
✔️ California Riding Club rolled into Farallone View’s Move-a-Thon with a full hobby horse obstacle course and brought horse science and a Pool Noodle Pony workshop to El Granada’s Arts and Science Week.

Kids loved it. Teachers high-fived us. Nobody (seriously) broke anything.

Saddle & STEM Horse Camp

Think grooming, groundwork, obstacle courses, and ranch adventures. Along the way, they’ll build real confidence, sharpen problem-solving skills, and maybe develop a questionable obsession with hoof picks. No glittery unicorns. No pony rides in circles. Just real horse partnership, a few dusty high-fives, and memories that smell faintly of carrots.

Sample Schedule

  • Morning: Learn to catch, halter, lead, groom, saddle & ride with the California Riding Club’s proven riding curriculum.

  • Afternoon: Ranch-related STEM projects in the Miss Maker Makerspace. Think circuits, composting, pulleys and levers. Nature walks. Outdoor, ranch adventures.

  • Ages: 5+

  • Dates: June 9 - June 13, 2025 (sold out); June 23 - June 27, 2025; July 14 - July 18, 2025; July 28 - August 1, 2025

  • Cost: $550.00

🛠️ Dream It. Design It. Build It.

Dates: July 7-11, 2025 | Ages: 7+

Safety first. (And second. And third.) Miss Maker has a proven track record of keeping kids safe while encouraging them to test their limits.

Safety goggles? Check. Kid-sized drills, hammers, and hand saws? Check. Grown-ups who actually know what they’re doing? Double check.

At Maker Camp, kids roll up their sleeves, grab their gear, and get busy co-building full-size clubhouses, obstacle courses, and other epic creations.

Sample Schedule

  • Morning: Ice Breaker; Introduction to Engineering Design Process

  • Snack:

  • Materials introduction: wood, screws, sandpaper, glue, drills, hammers, & hand saws.

  • Lunch:

  • Big project build.

  • Snack

  • Exploration/Free Play in Miss Maker Makerspace

🔫 Laser Tag & NERF Engineering Camp

Dates: June 16-20, 2025 | Ages: 7+

This is not your average NERF war. Kids go full maker-mode, designing targets with pool noodles and LED buzzers before running wild through custom obstacle courses they built themselves. Toss in paper airplane launchers and team challenges? Instant summer legend.

Sample Schedule

Morning: Introduction to the Engineering Design Process. Paper Airplanes

Snack:

Introduction to Woodworking. Create a paper airplane launcher

Lunch:

Laser Tag (Open Field/No obstacles)

Snack:

Build: Design an obstacle course for laser tag using the Engineering Design Process. Reflect on how it felt to do laser tag with no obstacles. How can we fix that?

🐎 Engineering Exploration Camp

Dates: July 21-25 & Aug 4-8, 2025 | Ages: 5+

Got a kid who moves as much as they think? Perfect. This camp is all about wild ideas, nature-based tinkering, and outdoor obstacle courses that might involve horses (yes, really). Think STEM meets recess—with magnetic builds, crash tests, and a whole lot of freedom to invent.

Sample Schedule

  • Morning: Learn about how horses use their ears to communicate. Read A little spot of emotions and tie to how horses use their ears to show how they are feeling.

  • Snack:

  • Make: A Pool Noodle Pony and position its ears to show how it is feeling. Notice how you can move the ears to change emotions, just like our emotions change.

  • Lunch:

  • “Ride” our horses out in the arena. Discuss: what was fun about riding our pool noodle ponies in the arena? How could we have made the experience more fun?

  • Snack:

  • Introduce: Engineering Design Process and the idea of prototyping. Sketch a pool noodle pony obstacle course.

  • Build a pool noodle pony obstacle course based on our sketches.
