STEM Buddy Supervisor (RISING High School (Freshman+): Paid High School Position | Summer 2026
Organization: Miss Maker Inc. (in collaboration with California Riding Club)
Location: Beacon Ranch / Miss Maker Makerspace (outdoor + indoor)
Schedule: Summer camp weeks, daytime hours (Monday–Friday)
Compensation: Hourly, at or above California minimum wage
Employment Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt, Temporary

POSITION OVERVIEW
The STEM Buddy Supervisor is a paid high school leadership role that supports the daily flow, safety, and emotional regulation of Miss Maker summer STEM camps. This role focuses on people support, supervision, and coaching, not teaching science content.
STEM Buddy Supervisors mentor middle school volunteers (“Science Buddies”), help younger campers (ages 5+) stay engaged and regulated, and ensure activities run smoothly and safely under the direction of the Camp Director.
This is a real job with real expectations, training, and accountability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Camper Support & Safety
Support younger campers during activities, transitions, snack, and cleanup
Help de-escalate frustration or overwhelm using calm, supportive language
Monitor camper groups to ensure safety expectations are followed
Immediately escalate safety or behavioral concerns to the Camp Director
Serve as the first point of support for assigned STEM Buddies
Model appropriate helping behavior (support without taking over)
Redirect STEM Buddies who drift into teaching, fixing, or over-helping
Assist with smooth transitions between stations and activities
Help ensure materials are ready, areas are cleaned, and campers are accounted for
Communicate clearly and respectfully with campers, volunteers, and staff
Ask for help when unsure — this role does not operate independently
Follow all camp policies, safety rules, and role boundaries
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Current high school student (RISING Freshman–Senior)
Able to provide a valid work permit from your school if under 18
Comfortable working with younger children
Calm, patient, and emotionally steady
Reliable attendance and punctuality
Able to follow directions and ask for help when needed
No prior STEM experience is required. Training is provided.
