SUMMER WORK EXPERIENCE

We’re building a real “first job / first leadership role” pathway for kids who want to be out of the house, doing meaningful work, gaining real experience, and contributing to our mission.

Each summer, Miss Maker and California Riding Club offer structured summer roles for students who want to learn responsibility, teamwork, and real-world skills—through hands-on STEM programs and Pony Camp / Riding Club.

To keep things simple, we organize opportunities by age and readiness, not by job title. We treat our summer roles like real opportunities, because that’s how kids learn to take themselves seriously. Requiring a resume and interview isn’t about filtering kids out. It’s about teaching skills they’ll use for the rest of their lives, in a supportive, age-appropriate environment.

For many students, this is:

  • Their first resume

  • Their first interview

  • Their first experience being evaluated for a role based on readiness, not just interest

We intentionally begin hiring and training well before summer so families can plan schedules with confidence and students can be fully prepared before camps begin.

Starting early allows us to:

  • place students thoughtfully in roles that fit their age and readiness

  • provide meaningful training (not rushed, last-minute onboarding)

  • set clear expectations around professionalism and responsibility

  • This makes the summer smoother for everyone—kids, families, and staff.

Flexible Interview Scheduling (On Purpose)

Because these are real roles with real responsibilities, completing every step of the process is required for summer job placement. We offer multiple days and times designed to work with busy schedules.
