Summer Jobs + Volunteer Pathway
We’re building a real “first job / first leadership role” pathway for kids who want to be out of the house, doing meaningful work, gaining real experience, and contributing to our summer camps.
There are two tracks:
Middle School (Grades 6–8): STEM Buddy (Volunteer)
High School (Freshman+): STEM Buddy Supervisor (Paid) (work permit required)
STEM Buddy
For: Rising 6th–8th grades (middle school)Role type: Volunteer / unpaid (this is not employment)
Science Buddies support younger campers (ages 5+) by encouraging them, helping them follow steps, and keeping them calm and confident during activities. They do not teach science, supervise alone, or handle discipline. What you get (parents + kids):
Leadership experience in a supervised settingResume + interview skill-buildingVolunteer/service hours documentation (if needed)A consistent, meaningful summer roleFamilies can plan summer childcare early
STEM Buddy Supervisor (Paid) (work permit required)
Track 2 — High School Paid Job (Science Buddy Supervisor)
For: Freshman in high school and up
Role type: Paid employee (hourly)
Requirement: Must provide a valid work permit from their high school (if under 18)
Science Buddy Supervisors help run the day smoothly by coaching Science Buddies, supporting transitions, and assisting the Camp Director with camper support.
Timeline
We start early so families can plan summer schedules and kids can be trained before camp begins. We intentionally offer multiple interview blocks to accommodate sports schedules and weekend commitments.
